Parashuram Kund |
It is a famous pilgrimage located in the lower reaches of the Lohit river in the Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh. A holy dip in the river is believed to wash away the sins. The kund finds mention in many ancient Hindu puranas . It is said that Lord Parashurama (the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu) became free from sin of matricide after having a dip in this famous Kund. It is after his name that the Kund is known as Parashuram Kund. Thousands of pilgrims visit the kund during the Parashuram mela held every year in January. |
